You are invited to a unique exhibition by the master portrait artist Nicholas Beer and students of his Sarum Studio which to be held at Sherfield Gallery, with a private viewing on the 25th September running between 6pm to 8pm.
Nicolas Beer has been the principle instructor with the Charles H Cecil Studio in Florence Italy for in excess of 20 years before starting his own atelier in Salisbury 5 years ago, although he often returns to Florence on request to provide talks and specific training.
It is rare for Nicolas to exhibit his work now and we are lucky to bring him in on this occasion to show some of his finest paintings and also to participate in an open Q&A session including a brief history of the technique he employs called ’sight-size’. Nicholas has previously exhibited widely including at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and he has received commissions from Europe and the United States. The following information has been taken from Nicholas’ website and includes some information on Helen Davidson, who will also be exhibiting.
I trust you will take advantage of this one off exhibition and we will see them at the private viewing.
With kind regards
Russell
Nicholas was senior instructor at the Charles H. Cecil Studios of Florence for over twenty years, and therefore has a unique claim on a tradition disseminated by Cecil and his teacher R. H. Ives Gammell that reaches back through the Boston and British Schools to the greater naturalism of seventeenth century Dutch and Italian painting.
Helen Davison became teaching assistant in summer 2015. She has studied at the Sarum Studio since 2010 and has exhibited with the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, the Royal Society of British Artists, and the Society of Women Artists
