Sherfield School is immensely proud of our Senior Prep prefects who organised a fantastic morning of activities to raise funds for the mental health charity MIND. Two of our prefects have written an account of the day:
'We would like to thank everyone who donated and participated in our MIND charity event on Friday 11th February. We would especially like to thank Mr Rampton, Mrs Walsh, and the prefects for all their hard work in preparing the event. We would also like to thank our Headmaster Mr Brain and the school for matching the total amount raised, allowing us to support MIND that extra mile. As a community we have raised £3,400 in total.
It was an extremely successful event and we hope that everyone enjoyed the stalls such as: the Pac Man stall run by the Polly, Isacc and Harry; 'Giant Mental Mealth Snakes and Ladders' run by Cara and Vinicio; 'Guess the Disney Character’s Mental Illness' run by Aaryan, Lily-Mae and Cameron; 'Who Has A Steady Hand?' run by Daisy P and Lexie; 'Bean Bag Throw' sports game run by Daisy A and Oliver; 'Brainteaser Questions' run by Darsh, Liam and Fred; 'Mental Illness Challenge' run by Theo V and Aaron; 'The Facts About Food' run by Idil and finally the raffle run by Olivia and Sophie. Thank you to Gabby who helped us prepare for the event, although sadly could not be there to run a stall on the day. We would also link to thank Ms Hight for running her art-based mindfulness and meditation sessions.
Some of you may be wondering why we chose to run a fundraising event for MIND. This is because mental health is a topic very close to our hearts; we felt that we needed to raise awareness about how MIND can help us with our mental health. It is a serious cause and we wanted students to realise that mental health is important and it can have a negative impact if unchecked. There are charities out there to help, so that you won’t feel alone and you can to talk to people who won’t judge you.
We thank everyone who took part in the activities and hope we can all take away something from this experience.'
