It has been another busy week in the Prep School.
British Science Week was very much enjoyed over the last few days, with activities including Fish Dissection, Year 2 outdoor Science experiments and BP Engineering and Construction Challenges (Year 7 and 8). Year 5 launched their home made rockets, with help from the Science department.
In sport, Ruby (Year 4) came third in The Destination Basingstoke Junior Cross Country League for U9 girls this season, following her competition last weekend. Also last weekend, Harry (Year 4) competed in the Basingstoke Music and Arts Festival. In the Junior Solo Singing category, he was awarded third place for singing "The Snowman". Ava and Georgia (Year 4) had their singing debut at our Choral Concert this week, performing a wonderful duet together. Congratulations!
Year 5 finished the week visiting Portsmouth Dockyards, where they actively investigated artefacts, costumes and architecture from the Tudor times. They were given the opportunity to dress as officers, sailors and find out about the jobs of the people aboard Tudor vessels. Finally thank you to Miss Bennett’s Year 8 tutor group for a wonderful assembly on Cultural Diversity, presented to Years 4 to 8.
It has certainly been a week of diverse and interesting learning activity at Sherfield School. Well done!
