Year 8 participated in an African Drumming workshop this morning, delivered by Hampshire Music Service. In a fun, fast-paced and highly interactive session, pupils learned about the culture of African drumming, key terminology and drumming techniques. They learnt how to play a layered, polyrhythmic piece in large groups and finished the session by composing their own call and response patterns. This will now lead into a unit of work on African Drumming for the rest of the half term in Music.
