On a bright autumnal day in November, the Year 3 students had a trip to the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire. The students couldn't wait to get there, excitedly clambering aboard the minibus and chatting all the way, until we reached the museum. As we arrived we were greeted by a member of staff who showed us around.
The students all had the chance to became authors for the day and took part in lots of creative activities to get ideas for writing. They designed their own characters, thought about possible ideas for the plot and also wrote their very own page in a class book.
The group thoroughly enjoyed looking around the museum at all the wonderful Roald Dahl related exhibits and objects! They tried on his old school uniform, read his school reports and saw a replica of where he did his writing. Everyone (staff and students) were very inspired by this visit and it was a fantastic end to our English unit of learning. On the way home, we stopped off to visit his grave; reflecting for a moment about all the wonderful stories we have shared together and how one day every student could be a famous author, just like him!
