Over the last few weeks, a major change has struck Sherfield, with that of course being the need for masks in school. As somebody who has been at Sherfield for nearly all my life, it is odd to see students and teachers alike walk the halls wearing masks. This is of course a precautionary measure and it must be taken seriously, which everyone has been doing. Not only has everybody been considerate of those around them, but each student and member of staff has adapted to the change well, which is always great to see.
Whilst it is a shame to be unable to do many activities due to bubble restrictions, we have been able to work around this. For example, last week, we had a virtual concert, where many of the students got to perform. Additionally, there have been intricately planned house competitions that allow for everybody to get involved, even with the bubble systems still in place.
This week has been especially important to many students here at Sherfield. Over the last few days, year 11 and 13 students (including myself) have been finalising their revision and sitting mock exams. For Year 13s like myself, this is a crucial time to get our heads down and study hard, as the future is currently uncertain due to the ongoing pandemic. However, the support we receive from teachers and our peers is strong enough to allow us students to handle the pressure.
This week has also been important for the school, as it was anti-bullying week. This year, we supported the Anti-Bullying Alliance in their campaign United Against Bullying. Notably on Monday, we took part in odd socks day, where we were given the opportunity to wear odd socks to show our support for the Anti-Bullying Alliance.
Even in this time of uncertainty, it is clear that nothing can damage the school spirit here at Sherfield.
Have a great weekend!
