On Thursday 28 June, Year Two completed a sponsored walk for WaterAid. Whilst learning about Malawi in Geography earlier in the year we found out that children in southern Africa have to walk an average of 6 kilometers a day to collect water. This water is often not clean and the task of water collection prevents many children from attending school so Year Two decided to walk that distance to raise some money. The heat on the day was a good reminder of why we were undertaking the challenge! We walked the 'Dash 4 Ash' course and all of the children made it round. We have so far raised £400 – double our original target! If anyone would like to sponsor Year Two then please see our Just Giving page: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/year2-waterwalk-sherfieldschool We are really proud of them - a great demonstration of our GEMS values of Global Citizenship at work.
