Year 2 carried out a science experiment this week, on the topic of germs. The black pepper in the water acted as the ‘germs’. When they dipped their fingers in, the 'germs' stuck to their fingers. When they put a small amount of soap on their fingers the germs moved away. This helped them to see how soap keeps their hands clean. They linked this to their History topic about Florence Nightingale and how she helped make hospitals cleaner, more hygienic places to be.
On the topic of Florence Nightingale, they have also been busy working on a handprint rainbow to say thank you to the NHS. They learned about how medicine and hospitals have advanced since Florence Nightingale and thought about the hard work of the NHS during the pandemic.
