Sherfield staff were very excited to be launching the new Enrichment Programme to pupils and parents at the inaugural Enrichment Fair this afternoon.
The ethos of enrichment at Sherfield centres around the school’s motto – Ad Vitam Paramus - Preparing for Life.
The AVP Diploma as it will be known will broaden and deepen the curriculum, giving children the opportunity to develop new skills such as problem solving, creativity, critical thinking and people management. They will volunteer and support in the community, gain further qualifications, fund raise, develop their environmental awareness and much more.
The initials AVP form the backbone of the activities:
A – Accreditation – a programme of study to receive a recognised award.
V – Volunteering – give something back to the community.
P - Practical – learn a new and useful skill.
This is a high quality enrichment programme that will equip our children with the skills they need to make informed life choices. The electronic log will useful evidence for higher education destinations and future employers, further developing improved employability.
This afternoon, pupils were able to choose from a wide range of activities in consultation with their parents and staff who were on hand offer guidance and support.
Looking ahead, each year, pupils will progress through the programme and work towards the Bronze, Silver, and ultimately Gold and Platinum Diplomas.
We hope you enjoyed the event and felt that it was a worthwhile part of the implementation of this programme. Please do not worry if you were unable to attend, there will be plenty of information shared over the coming weeks and you will receive an email with details of your child’s choices and a list of the activities available for you to approve before we allocate them to the programme.
We welcome feedback about the fair, the programme and your thoughts on how to develop the programme further, please share your thoughts with us at HMPA@sherfieldschool.co.uk
