We are delighted to welcome Ms Krissie Ellis, who will be taking up the role of Director of Teaching and Learning at Sherfield. This is a new position leading the development of learning, teaching and professional practice across the school. Ms Ellis will be joining us after Easter on a part time basis before continuing in a full-time capacity from September 2022.
Krissie was brought up on the Surrey/Hampshire borders and remembers her school days fondly as they allowed her to develop interests in music, sport and literature. It was this love of reading that eventually led her to a degree in English and French at Oxford University, a year of which was spent living and working in France.
Following the completion of her studies, Krissie selected the University of Reading to be the location for her PGCE, swiftly following this with a Masters’ degree in Education focusing on strategies for reading.
Despite her busy study and work timetable, Krissie continued to make time to indulge her passion for sport – specifically rugby – until a bad tackle and a snapped ACL necessitated a switch from pitch to stands. She is now an enthusiastic runner while also enjoying cooking food from around the world, being something of an Olympics obsessive and developing a rather unlikely love for fast cars.
Now a mother of three – all of whom will be joining her at Sherfield – Krissie places a love of reading and a belief in the fundamental value of literacy at the heart of her teaching ethos. She looks forward to helping to develop the next generation of independent, confident and independent learners at the school.
We look forward to welcoming Krissie and her children to Sherfield next term.
