Tennis
The week started with Tennis wins and ended with Tennis wins! Both matches against Robert Mays boys and girls ended in success and our under 15 boys team won their last group match against Bohunt. Both the under 15 girls and boys Tennis teams have won their groups in the Ageon Cup.
The Tennis team then travelled to Hertfordshire on Thursday to compete in the ISA National Open Tennis Championship and they displayed great skills, fitness and sportsmanship throughout. Tillie Reid won the U15 girls singles title and won all her matches and Tillie and Kirsty Da Silva became U15 girls doubles runners up after losing on a sudden death point in the final. Jasmin Bromilow also showed excellent skills but had to retire due to an ongoing shoulder injury. Year 7 Oliver Alemany won bronze in the U13 boys singles cup.
Daniel Prickett and Aaron Dawson battled in a closely fought final which was the longest ever at an ISA Tennis tournament. Daniel finally wining the U15 boys single title in a tie break. The match was an incredible standard.
Aaron and Daniel then joined sides to compete in the doubles and won the U15 boys doubles title.
Rounders
Year 9 girls won their Rounders match against Costello 14-6 captained by Olivia Elliott. Batter of the match was Caroline France and Fielder of the match was Keira Walsh.
Year 10 girls played Rounders away at Frensham playing very well but losing to a stronger team. Fielder of the match was Neha Pooni and batter of the match was Emily Davies.
Cricket
The Year 7 boys enjoyed their first Cricket victory of the year against Alton. Alton batted first and scored a respectable 64. Sherfield were able to knock off -25 for wickets taken thanks to some fantastic bowling, leaving themselves a target of 40 to win. Some brilliant batting performances resulted in a final score of 76 to Sherfield to round out the victory. The team were well captained and marshalled by Varch Taneja, who was also awarded the MVP by the Alton team.
The Year 3 and 4 team also had their first ever Cricket match at Alton School this week. Mr Adams was incredibly proud of the performance Sherfield gave. It was a very close game with Alton just edging out the win by 15 runs. Stand out bowling and batting performances from Captain Avik Dash and Vice-Captain Samuel Gill, almost clawed the victory back for Sherfield.
