British Science Week at Sherfield School (11th March to 20th March) witnessed a plethora of activities, designed to engage and excite students, across years 3 to 13.
The various events included the ‘Animal Experience’ where students had the opportunity to handle live snakes, spiders and other creepy crawlies; ‘Year 12 Biology, Chemistry and Physics Shows’; ‘The Sherfield Science Quiz’; ‘Mr Westwood’s Crazy Combustion Chemistry Show’; ‘Mr Molin’s Brilliant Biology Show’; ‘Mr Megaw’s Phenomenal Physics Show’; ‘Mr Wignall’s Mammalian Dissection’; ‘the Sherfield Planetarium Show’; and the inaugural ‘Sherfield School Ghost Hunt’ which saw students genuinely ghostbusting around the historic Buckfield mansion utilising state-of-the-art heat cameras and motion sensors to try and detect the spectres of Sherfield's past.
The week was a huge success, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff and students who worked tirelessly to put the activities together and deliver them with such gusto. As you will see from a small selection of the photographs taken, the students at Sherfield had many truly memorable and educational experiences.
Have a wonderful Easter break,
Mr D Wignall, Head of Science
