This half term, the sixth form prefect team have started to launch their projects! This began with the creation of the sixth form pupil council, led by Kiera and Florence. Our first meetings discussed “Sixth Form Socials”, decoration of the common room space and “Grab-and-Go Friday’s” in the kitchen.
Other projects are also in their early stages! Ruby has been researching the viability of keeping bees at school, contacting local organisations to see how the process would work.
Neil has been looking towards developing the schools’ mental health support system, planning activities that could be implemented. Alongside this, Kiera is looking at running a mental health charity day later on in the school year.
Many of the prefects are avid STEAM students, therefore, Kiera, Aimee and Datrim have been looking at setting up a science society, and running STEAM related lunch-time sessions to increase participation and excitement, particularly in the younger years.
As a group, we will all be planning a careers fair for later on in the year. Therefore, we are asking parents and friends of the school, involved in all sectors, to join in with the event! We would love to have as many of you as possible. In the next half term, we will be sending out interest forms, so please consider whether you may want to get involved.
This half term has been busy, but full of exciting prospects. We all cannot wait to action some of our proposals, and if any of the students want a reminder of what we are planning to achieve, we have a brand new prefect board in the sixth form corridor.
Have a lovely half term!
