14 March is Pi-day, a day which celebrates this awesome irrational number. As a school, pupils have been involved in various events both in and out of the classroom in the run up to the special day tomorrow.
Year 6 to 10 have been involved in pi-recitals to see who can challenge them self to learn the most digits of Pi. Stalla in Year 9 took the top spot reciting 114 digits, however notable mention must be given to Jessica, Charlie and Tadi who all recited over 90 digits.
In origami club they created 3D paper folded pi symbols and as a school every class from Year 13 to Reception decorated part of the Sherfield School ‘Pi-Line’).
Year 6 to 10 have also been involved in the Pi-rings competition. This is a game which combines physical fitness and mental agility to find the winning house by creating a ring chain of the correct digits.
Junior Rotary Club also got involved in the fun by selling pi-themed cakes and biscuits for charity.
