Since the start of the Easter term we have been running a new Photography Club for all ages from year 7 to 13.
Each week we have been exploring the wonderful school grounds, doing walks in different areas and discovering the lesser seen sights of the grounds.
Week one, we walked around the lake, enjoying the low sun over the lake. Week two we explored the forest, finding large flowering rhododendrons that drew the pupils attention. Week three we had a day of heavy rain but the photography gods shone on us, as just as the club started the rain stopped and we were able to take some amazing images of water droplets on the fabulous plants of the school. Week Four the pupils set the nice broad theme of “school” and had fun taking staged images in the Lydney play area and then exploring the meadow grasses on the front lawn.
After each club the pupils are asked to review their images at home and upload their favourite 4 images to a shared cloud drive. At the start of the next club we look to review these images and critique each other’s photos, picking our favourites and discussing why we like particular images but also suggesting why we might not like others and suggesting improvements. The student’s skills are growing every week and they are increasingly considering the composition of their images but also experimenting with new, fun and different photographs.
Hopefully the weather will continue to be good for us in the coming half term and we are able to take many more amazing images.
