On Monday 25 October Lucy Tickle competed in the NSEA National Finals at Addington, Buckinghamshire.
Over 1000 riders register for the 1 - 1.05m showjumping event, and Lucy was one of 50 competitors to make it through to the National Final stage. This involved 12 jumps, timed after jump 6. Not only did Lucy jump a clear round but she also managed to qualify in the top eight, reaching the Grand Final.
The Grand Final was contested by the best eight 1 - 1.05m showjumpers in the country. The riders were timed for all seven fences so it was a real speed round, on slightly larger fences. Lucy was first to go and she set a high standard for the rest, putting pressure on the other competitors. She had a fantastic round, coming second to just one other rider. This result places Lucy second in the country of NSEA entrants in this particular category.
It is a remarkable achievement for one of our young riders on the school equestrian programme. Congratulations, Lucy, Sherfield is very proud of you.
