On Monday 6th December, our GCSE Music students enjoyed a trip to visit the fantastic Loddon School, a specialist independent school for children who have severe and complex learning difficulties.
'The GCSE Music trip to the Loddon School was a great experience. While it gave all of us a chance to perform, it also educated us on the range of learning needs catered for by the school, and how music can be a huge part of their students’ lives. We were able to just have fun singing and playing for them, and it was lovely to see them enjoying the music, often singing and clapping along. Our performances even included an impromptu jam session by Aayan and Thomas on the drums and piano while a backing track for another student was being loaded. Our performances included vocal, piano, guitar and violin solos, duets, and band pieces. Even though we weren't perfect, the joy we could see the Loddon school students gained from a live music performance was great for us to participate in. We could see how much fun they were having from various interactions and inspiring them in any small way was brilliant for us as well. We look forward to visiting them again in the future and sharing our love of music once more.
