In Year 3 we have been learning about data handling and recording and presenting data. We used packets of skittles to collect data. Starting with the hypothesis "all the packets have an equal number of each coloured skittles". We tested thus hypothesis by counting each colour and doing a tally chart.
The different pairs compared their data to see whether our hypothesis was true.
We found that even though each packet had around 178 skittles, none of the 5 packets had an equal amount of skittles of the same colour.
The pupils loved the activity and could all draw bar charts as a graphical representation of the data.
