At the beginning of June, 77 pupils and 9 staff ventured to the south of France for a week long residential.
Upon arrival at lunch time, the sun was beaming and we knew we were set up for a lovely trip. Over the course of the week, the pupils took part in a huge range of activities including: canoeing down the Ardeche, rock jumping, sleeping under the stars, team building games, abseiling, swimming and zip wiring through the trees on the high ropes!
The pupils were faced with a range of challenges, however this encouraged perseverance, leadership, resilience and huge progress. As a group we also visited the local town of Vallon and spent the day at Pont d’Arc, where the pupils were able to spend some time at the local market and then swim in the river, enjoying the sunshine!
On our return journey back to Sherfield, we had quieter coaches full of tired children after a jam-packed week. The pupils were a delight to take away and it was an amazing opportunity to bond as a cohort before the end of the year! What will the Year 7 and 8 residential for 2023 look like… all will be revealed next year!
