Year 8 Rugby Report on Recent Achievements:
"Over the last fortnight, Sherfield's dominant Boys U13A Rugby team has shown remarkable progress, outclassing rival teams while evolving and improving collectively and individually.
On Thursday, February 1st, the team triumphed over Reddam House with a convincing 60-0 victory, ending the game early due to their sheer dominance. Scott H excelled as the first-five eight, showcasing exceptional athleticism with a hat-trick of tries. Jaz S displayed his usual physical prowess, and Hudson H achieved a rare front-row hat-trick. Noteworthy performances from Joao M and Seb B at lock and full-back, and Max PC's tenacity at scrum-half, were key in breaking through Reddam's defence effortlessly.
Loosehead prop Tony N's outstanding performance earned him the "Man of the Match" title, contributing a fantastic try with a 40-meter break and scoring one himself with his trademark carries. The team's exceptional teamwork was highlighted by a brilliant team try finished by Guy S, involving nine players touching the ball in just two phases of play.
Next, the team faced Luckley House and Leighton Park schools in a triangular tournament on Wednesday, winning both games 35-0 with remarkable tries. The boys' fluid offloading game stood out, emphasizing team tries over individual efforts. Finlay G shone at outside centre, utilizing his physicality, height, and speed to break through defences. Alex W-N's basketball skills facilitated quick ball movement to the wide channels where Caspar M and Guy S capitalized on the wings. Harry Fearon showcased maturity with strategic decisions, creating excellent opportunities for his team.
Scott H's exceptional performance against Leighton Park showcased his athleticism and potential for a high-level rugby career. Captain Hudson H led by example with powerful carries and tackles, setting the tone for the team. Theo J's growing confidence, Adam Evans' first season try, and Jack R's A-team debut were notable moments.
