The 26th of September was European Languages Day, and Sherfield School celebrated this cause to the fullest.
Starting on Monday the 20th, an educative assembly on Global Citizenship launched the global theme for the Seniors; where they discovered and explored how we live in an interconnected world, represented by many international students.
On Tuesday, pupils and staff grouped up into teams for the 'Languages Quizzy Quiz' house competition, where tasks ranged from translating movie titles, to guessing the language of the Disney song. There was also a world themed general knowledge questions and a virtual escape room.
Later in the week, in the Prep school the children celebrated the European Day of Languages by taking part in various activities and Junior Prep did some super singing in French. The Year 4-6s prepared some fun learning games and activities to share with Years R-3 to help them learn some French numbers and colours. The older children demonstrated some fantastic leadership qualities and the experience has been enjoyed by all.
We also celebrated at lunch time with an enticing Italian themed lunch. Gnam Gnam!
The world is shrinking - we're all linked to one another on a global scale via video conferencing, travel, trade, and other media. As more and more people develop international interest, the world is becoming a global village.
