This week all of Year 7 travelled to the south coast in Dorset to see the stunning coastal landforms of Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. We used the opportunity to see how powerful the sea can be in shaping the coastline and creating such amazing features such as the huge coastal arch and smaller coves and caves. Pupils completed some excellent sketches of the features, accurately identifying the types of erosion responsible for their formation. We also assessed the impact of tourism on the area as, even on a midweek, misty day the car park was full. Having walked the equivalent of 81 flights of stairs (according to Mrs Smallbone’s Fitbit), pupils had some time at the end of the day for a well-earned ice cream!
