On Saturday 45 pupils took part in the Wessex Wyvern Schools Biathlon Qualifier where they recorded a run time on the track at Down Grange and a swim time in the pool at the Aquadrome. Results are sent on to Pentathlon GB to be included in the national ranking list to try and qualify for the British Schools Modern Biathlon Championships being held at the home of Pentathlon at Bath University in March next year.

We also had some amazing Year 1s and 2s join us and they also managed to complete the same run and swim distance as the Year 3s and 4s! They are too young to try and qualify this year but what a great experience ready for when they are n Year 3.
Year 1 – Kian A
Year 2 – Millie H, Teddy C, Isla G, Casey A and Advith B
The rankings list and invites to the national competition usually come out after the New Year so fingers crossed lots of pupils get the experience of competing at a huge national event at a top class facility. Reining Year 5 National Champion Luke Wallace will be hoping to try and become the Year 6 champion and we hope to see Sherfield teams on the podium as team medallists. The next opportunity to do some combined running and swimming will be around the Easter holidays at a biathle – which is a continuous run-swim-run event.
