This week, in the Sixth Form we hosted two Sixth Form taster days for small groups of Year 11 students, which included a wonderful array of new lunch options for the students to trial and give their feedback on.
On Tuesday we had a selection of different buffet-style delicacies ranging from vegetable sushi and smoked salmon, to a delicious crispy lamb salad, with a lovely rich chocolate mousse accompanied by an Oreo crumb for Dessert. The feedback from both the Year 11 students and the Sixth Form students was great. Everyone was very excited about having more lunches like this in the future.
On Wednesday we had an entirely different selection at lunch with a smoked mackerel and pesto salad with beetroot and giant couscous. Alongside this there was an assortment of other meal options, including chorizo scotch eggs with harissa mayo and a grilled halloumi and quinoa salad. After which we indulged in a delightfully creamy lemon posset with a ginger biscuit crumb and raspberries. The feedback received from students was once again very positive. The desserts and halloumi salad went down a storm and everyone loved the opportunity to have hot drinks, along with cordials, served with lunch.
It is fair to say that the new food options are creating a buzz of excitement in the Sixth Form, especially with a second round of Sixth Form taster days coming this Tuesday and Wednesday. The prospect of a new and more mature style of lunches for the Sixth Form is something that we are all looking forward to!
