The Reception Class have been busy the past two weeks. They've been given daily tasks to develop their fine motor skills and life skills. They've taken part in daily phonics sessions, talked about feelings, reignited the Lego Challenge, sorted money and more.
Fine Motor
In order to develop our fine motor skills, the children have been given some daily tasks. On one occasion, the children were asked to pick up small objects with tweezers, transferring the objects from one container to the next.
Phonics
Each day the children are asked to take part in a phonics session where they are introduced to a new sound and practise reading previously taught sounds. They practise reading and writing green and red words and move onto reading their book of the week.
Feelings Flower
We are reading The Rainbow Fish as our text driver this week which opens up a lot of conversations about feelings. The children were tasked to create their own feeling flower.
Lego Challenge
The Lego Challenge is going strong in Reception! The children have been asked to create many different challenges including writing their name, creating a sea creature and many more!
Life Skills
The children are tasked with a different life skill challenge each day. This week some of the challenges included holding a pencil, washing our bodies, brushing our teeth and brushing our hair. Shivam spent some time helping to brush his little sister’s hair.
Rainbow Fish
After completing two weeks of comprehension activities, the children are learning to retell the story of The Rainbow Fish.
Maths
The children have been tasked with sorting key features of money, sorting money and naming coins.
Outdoor Learning
Our Reception pupils who are in school had a wonderful day on Friday which included Outdoor Learning with hot chocolates!
