Reception class have been learning to tell the time. They identified key features of clocks and then made our own natural clocks with seasonal objects that they found outside. They then went on a clock hunt around their house and learnt to read the time to o’clock.
They have been learning about capacity via our online learning sessions. They first filled various containers to represent empty, nearly empty, halfway, nearly full and full. They then went on measuring with standard units.
They have continued with their daily phonics lessons which have been a hit and the children are making some incredible progress as they are able to pause, rewind and re-watch their phonics sessions as often as they like.
Their shared reading book is The Jolly Postman. The children have enjoyed listening to the story and then completing relevant writing activities which stem from the book. They have been writing some birthday cards for Goldilocks, letters and a story map to retell the story.
The children are being tasked with a life skill challenge each day. For example, this week, they have been asked to help someone in their house to prepare a meal.
