The pupils in Reception and Year 1 have been getting stuck into their new topic, Robin Hood. They’ve enjoyed comparing the character profiles of Robin Hood and The Sheriff of Nottingham through this role on the wall activity. They were asked to write words that describe each characters’ intentions on the inside of their outlines and how they may be perceived by others on the outside.
The class fairies came to visit Reception and left them Fairy dust to keep them safe.
In Art, Year 1 went on an adventure to collect sticks which they then turned into Aboriginal Clapsticks by painting them with stripes and spots.
The pupils drew different emotions on leaves. They chose leaves to represent how they were feeling and explained why. They came up with things they could do to if they were feeling negative emotions and acted these out using their leaf characters.
Year 1 have been enjoying the great outdoors through a range of fun circle times and team games designed to promote speaking and listening and turn-taking skills. A particular favourite was Magic Sticks. Each child found a magic stick and they took it in turns to cast a spell to turn it into something else which all children then enjoyed acting out. We had motorbikes, wands and even broomsticks!
