As part of their ‘Superhero' and 'People Who Help Us’ topics this term, our Reception classes have warmly welcomed some exciting visitors into Sherfield school! The children received visits from the police, the RAF, a dentist, a therapy dog and the school nurse! They were shown how to turn on the sirens in a police van, how to brush their teeth correctly, different ways to heal injuries by the nurse and were enthralled to receive cuddles from Colin the therapy dog. Lastly they received a visit from Mr Maddock who told them all about being a pilot – inspiring many in the class! They had lots of fun dressing up in his uniforms.
During English lessons the children learnt to write questions which they then asked the visitors and they wrote fact files about the police following their visit.
All in all, it has been a wonderful theme to explore this term and we are incredibly grateful to all our visitors for bringing the topic to life!
