"On Saturday 4 Sherfield pupils had the honour of representing the London West Region at the ISA National Cross Country Championships. They qualified at the regional event held at Sherfield School last month. Worksop College (nearly a 200 mile journey from school!) hosted the event. There were 50-
Dylan E (Y6) raced in the Year 5 and 6 2000m race and achieved a fantastic 9th place out of 64 runners. Dylan retained his top 10 place throughout the race and had a superb sprint finish to hold the top 10.
Evie B raced in the Year 7 2700m race, having qualified regionally in 9th achieved an amazing 14th place out of 43 runners. She worked hard throughout and worked her way through the field on the 2nd lap.
Caiden G raced in the Year 7 2700m race. He was unlucky with the starting positions and the race started like it was a 100m sprint! Caiden kept pushing and made up lots of places to finish in a brilliant 11th place out of 54 runners.
Jack M (Y10) raced in the Year 10 and 11 4500m race. Jack ran steadily throughout and held on well to finish in a fabulous 26th position out of 44 runners. He had an exciting sprint finish to hold off the few runners close behind him.
Miss Matson is very proud of all 4 pupils and is particularly impressed how well they handled their nerves. They all gave everything and really upped their running from the regional qualifying competition. It was a fantastic event and the course was really good. A huge well done to all our pupils."
