A few words from Heatree.
After a slightly longer journey than anticipated (during which the children were very well behaved, although it did appear from the rear view window of the coach that there was a mobile hairdressing salon on board!) we finally arrived at Heatree. The weather has been very kind to us today and not a raindrop fell, which allowed us to have our picnic lunch outside and for the children to spend a couple of hours exploring the gorgeous grounds whilst taking part in treasure hunt and orienteering activities.
We were given a delicious supper of lasagne, apple crumble and custard – although wrestling the custard from Mr Warriner was quite a feat – and then we had another hour or so of free-time activities outside. The swings were very sought-after, there was much rolling down of steep slopes, the usual culprits organised a game of football and Mr Downer set up an impromptu rounders “match”, which saw some impressive batting by Mark, Harry and India and good bowling from Malindi. There was some truly dreadful catching skills by virtually everyone else! Thankfully Miss Salentino was not here to witness it!
After a snack and some down time it was “lights out” – for the staff as well as the children.
A great introductory day – and lots of excitement for the days ahead.
