On Sunday we had an amazing team of 29 pupils that raced at the National Schools Biathle Championships a Leweston School in Dorset. Pupils ranged in age from Year 3 to Year 10. A biathle is a continuous run-swim-run event where pupils have to remove their shoes and place them in a box after the first run before jumping into the swimming pool to complete the swim. Then they put their shoes back on again to complete the 2nd run. It was amazing to see so many Sherfield pupils at the event doing so well and enjoying themselves. There were some fantastic results as follows:

There were some big sporting schools in attendance at the event including Millfield, Taunton Prep, Leweston and Hazlegrove. To achieve so many team medals against these very sporty schools was amazing and we are so proud of our pupils. It was great to see 2 Sherfield pupils becoming national champions for 2024 as well as the 2 team national champions too.
Luke W had already completed his Year 5 race and stepped in to make a team in the year 6 boys race – he not only managed a top 10 place individually but helped the team to team gold too!
Rhys E stepped up to race in Year 9 to make a team and was rewarded with a team silver.
Aaron H just missed out on the top of the podium by 1 second!
3 Team silvers was also a fantastic result. A huge congratulations to everyone involved and also to parents for making the trip to Leweston.
