Students from Year 9 and 10 have been working extremely hard in their GEMS X enrichment this term. The students were tasked with researching how cutting edge technology can be used to develop solutions for some of the biggest challenges facing the world today.
The Year 9 team developed the ‘CStraw’ a device to filter salt water. Year 10 worked on artificial photosynthesis. Both teams had to produce a video to send to Dubai to be judged alongside entries across the GEMS worldwide network of schools. They then had to have a video interview to explain their products.
The Year 9 team have been successful with their entry and now have been shortlisted for the next stage of the competition. The team will be assigned an industry expert who will run a weekly mentoring session for the team to help them develop their product for the next stage of the competition.
Good luck to the Year 9 team: Les, Angus, Ben and Jack and well done to the Year 10 team: Matthew, Aimee and Maelle.
