This week at Sherfield, we have been thinking about forgiveness in assemblies and tutor periods. We have listened to amazing stories of people who have shown forgiveness in the most challenging of circumstances. Pupils were asked to reflect on what forgiveness meant to them and share their thoughts on post-it notes which are now on display on our Forgiveness board in the dining room.
Sometimes it is very difficult to forgive and give up a grudge against someone else, particularly as we try to control our emotions and anxieties. However, apart from the obvious benefits of being happier and developing more positive relationships, there are actually many benefits to forgiveness. Improved mental health, less anxiety, stress and hostility, lower blood pressure, fewer symptoms of depression, a stronger immune system, improved heart health and self-esteem are all benefits we should consider. Although we all encounter disagreement in different ways, in these circumstances the power of forgiveness should never be underestimated. If you have the opportunity this weekend, please do explore the power of forgiveness and reflect on the assemblies with your children.
The final note from me this week is a huge thank you for the fantastic support for the bottle collection for the Christmas Market Tombola. We really appreciate the continued community spirit and very much hope you can join us next weekend at the Christmas Market.
