We wish to ensure the school is well managed, meets all statutory and regulatory requirements and that we communicate with parents in a timely and professional manner.
GEMS Education is the proprietor of five UK independent schools, a school at Etoy in Switzerland, and a school in Normandy, France. The CEO of GEMS UK & Europe is the proprietor’s representative, as registered with the UK Department for Education, and is responsible for the management of the schools. At present this is Mr Rony Valeny.

GEMS CENTRAL GOVERNING BODY
The Governing Body is made up of independent members, including the Chair, and senior GEMS staff. It is responsible for the governance of all GEMS schools. Its responsibilities include
Responsibility for central policies, particularly those relating to safeguarding and health and safety;
Oversight of the performance of each school and its staff; and appointment of the Head Teacher and any Deputies;
Advising the proprietor on all matters, including investment in the schools; oversight of school improvement plans and their implementation;
Oversight of the wellbeing of staff employed in the schools
LOCAL SCHOOL BOARDS
Each GEMS school has established a local school board. This board is the direct link with the GEMS Central Governing Body and its membership consists of the Head Teacher, the member of staff responsible for safeguarding, representatives of the staff and community and one of the members of the central governing body. GEMS Central Governing Body staff will attend as appropriate to support the school board. The school has first line responsibility for its policies and effectiveness. While the school board has no executive powers it should:
Provide reports of the termly meetings to the GEMS Central Governing Body;
Ensure that school policies, particularly safeguarding, are consistent with central policies;
Agree the school’s improvement plan and monitor its implementation;
Consider all performance data for the school;
Bring to the GEMS Central Governing Body any matters needing further involvement.

We monitor the standards within our schools internally, and they are externally inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).
